Disconnect and Dissonance

I am going to ask you to do something today without jumping to conclusions. Will you do this for me? This is a mental exercise, not some statement on some subject, topic, or political debate. Because what I am going to have you deliberate upon, exposes a deep problem within the hearts of men and women, friends and family, maybe even you and me. Okay, now that this is stated, let us begin.

See the protests going on against police. Do you hear the call for no more police officers in some of our cities? So, let’s think, we want safety on our streets without police? Check. Who will stop crime? Well, we just get rid of guns. So, we assume the bad guys will give up theirs? They won’t lick their chops with law enforcement gone? Check.

Observe the rallies against data centers. This has become a national craze. Okay, so let’s mark this down: we want cell phones, tablets, laptops, and information at our fingers without the mechanism that provides that data and technology? That’s right. Let China do it. So, you don’t think China will leverage this against us? That’s right.

Note the uproar over oil and gas, coal, and nuclear. People say these things must end. But that person wants electricity and is very upset when there is a power outage. So, let us get this straight, they want power without power generation? Well, no, they understand there must be power generation, but there must be a better way.

So, they are fine with solar generation, wind turbines, and hydro-electric plants. Is this correct? Well yes, with one caveat, they don’t want solar farms near their home, no wind turbines in their county, and no dams on their rivers. Okay, then where do we put them? Well, they say, somewhere else, just not near me. Got it.

There is the march against ICE, Immigration and Customs Enforcement. We see their signs, “No One is Illegal”. But they want fentanyl deaths to end. They want the murderer of their family member to pay. They want rent to go down and homeownership to increase. But wait, if you let one million more people into the country who need housing, and there is a shortage of housing, doesn’t that mean prices go up? Well, they say, you need to freeze the price. Okay, so the prices are frozen, but we demand wages to go up? If prices are frozen, how can employers give raises?

There is the movement for free healthcare. They say necessities should be free, that mankind is entitled to free food, free water, free housing, free cellphones, and free healthcare. Okay, so if food is free, then how do the people who work the fields get paid? If housing is free, how do the homebuilders get their money? If cellphones are free, how does Apple afford production? If healthcare is free, then who pays the doctors? Well, I guess government should pay for it. Okay, then where does government get their money? From the citizens. And how does government get the money from the citizens? Through taxes.

There’s huge push to get rid of the taxes. Let the rich pay the taxes, not us poor folks! Okay, but the rich get rich by innovating and initiating production, but the products are free, so the rich no longer make money, so the governments no longer can tax for money, so no one who lives in this society can have things given free to them.

Do you see the disconnect? Oh we hate plastic. It’s bad for the environment. No more plastic straws! So what should straws be made from? Paper! Okay, I hate paper straws but so be it. Where does paper come from? Trees. But wait a minute, the environmentalists are against cutting down trees. So, if we don’t cut down trees, we have no paper to make the straws much less to have an object to write on. Well, we don’t need to write down anything, we have computers, but if we have no data centers and electricity for these, the computer is just a plastic inoperable box, but wait, the computer is made of plastic, so no there is no box at all.

Last Disconnect – we want Heaven but not God. We want forgiveness but no payment. We want happiness without obedience to the Divine Law which convicts the human heart. You and I better start thinking better!
