The police swear an oath to protect and serve. So why is it that so many populations live in fear of them? The use of police force to oppress minorities is nothing new, but neither is it inevitable. Sam Martin, creative director at Free the People, dives into the history of the war on drugs, militarization of the police, qualified immunity, and other systemic problems that have given rise to the racial and class divides that we face today.
