Instead, critical theory and the DEI programs that have taken over the universities insist that we focus on race at all times. The result has been an exacerbation of racial tensions and the erasure of much of the progress we’ve made over the last century. Matt Kibbe sits down with Ilya Shapiro, author of “Lawless: The Miseducation of America’s Elites,” to talk about how Shapiro was canceled over a tweet about Kamala Harris, despite making a legitimate point about merit-based hiring. Shapiro explains how these ideas came to capture academia and the danger of allowing bureaucratic institutions to infect and ultimately tear down the pillars of Western civilization, such as free speech, the rule of law, and respect for the individual.
