Good Policy Is Good Politics | Episode 410
Matt Kibbe offers a post-election debrief from sunny Italy, away from the carnage just inflicted on congressional Republicans. The tragedy is that Tuesday’s results were predictable and avoidable had the administration remembered that political wins stem from smart leadership on policy. All Trump had to do was keep us out of wars and at least act like he cared about the cost of living.
Instead, voters overwhelmingly rejected the policies of war with Iran, tariffs, and inflation caused by unchecked spending. The result is that we’re seeing an ascendency of democratic socialists who are poised to take over the Democratic Party and pursue an agenda that is genuinely terrifying. That’s something we have to take seriously and fight against if we want to avoid ending up like Venezuela.
The good news is that the coalition that swept Trump into office in 2024, the coalition that he has since abandoned, still exists and is still hungry for the chance to support small government and individual liberty, if only we can get those things on the ballot.
