Not a Criminal

Joel Davis is not a criminal. He’s a patient battling his addiction to opioids and using medical cannabis as a natural alternative to dangerously addictive drugs. Free the People follows his journey of self-discovery, and his realization that medical decisions should be between patients and their doctors, not politicians.

Matt Kibbe

Matt Kibbe is President at Free the People, an educational foundation using video storytelling to turn on the next generation to the values of personal liberty and peaceful cooperation. He is also co-founder and partner at Fight the Power Productions, a video and strategic communications company. Kibbe is the host of BlazeTV’s Kibbe on Liberty, a popular podcast that insists that you think for yourself.

Dubbed “the scribe” by the New York Daily News, Kibbe is the author three books, most recently the #2 New York Times bestseller Don’t Hurt People and Don’t Take Their Stuff: A Libertarian Manifesto.

He was senior advisor for a Rand Paul Presidential Super PAC in 2016, and later co-founded AlternativePAC to promote libertarian values.

In 2004 Kibbe founded FreedomWorks, a national grassroots advocacy organization, and served as President until his departure in 2015. Steve Forbes said: “Kibbe has been to FreedomWorks what Steve Jobs was to Apple.”

An economist by training, Kibbe did graduate work at George Mason University and received his B.A. from Grove City College. He serves at the whim of his awesome wife Terry, and their three objectivist cats, Roark, Ragnar and Rearden. Kibbe is a fanatical DeadHead, drinker of craft beer and whisky, and collector of obscure books on Austrian economics.

  • I have a similar situation, with scar tissue on a nerve that causes chronic pain, and may be causing neuropathy. They can’t do anything permanent because that nerve controls several important systems, including bowel control. They shouldn’t lump us in with criminal addicts. These politicians, by and large though there are exceptions, are not doctors. Butter think they should dictate to doctors how we’re cared for and what treatments we can have. And they don’t want to hear from us.
I hope you improve, and that this works for you.
No, you are not a criminal.

  • God Speed, Joel Davis! I am a chronic pain patient also. I have been opiate free for 18 months. I use an unconventional treatment that has to be compounded, but have absolutely changed my life. It is Low Dose Naltrexone. I take 5mg daily. In low doses it acts to block the receptors temporarily so your system increases production of beta-endorphines. It is also a glial cell modulator. In any case, I have no cognitive effects from it, I have more energy and less pain. If cannabis works for you, you should be able to use it. You are definitely not a criminal in my eyes.

  • Lately, I’ve been hearing Rand Paul, who I voted for in the primaries, praising President Trump as “a genius” and a “fellow freedom crusader” and I was so disappointed. He is praising the man who calls freedom of the press “a cancer,” and “enemy of the people. Trump claims that without his influence “we will become Vene uela.” When Trump had a side meeting with Putin at the G20 summit, it was reported that when Putin said that he doesn’t tolerate critical reporters, he has them jailed or worse, Trump exclaimed his enthusiasm and said “I’d like to do that back home but I can’t yet”. Yet!!!!! When I see Free the People standing with Rand Paul, who idolizes Trump, I become alarmed, with good reason.
